Minimum Qualification Required

Must be a full-time student and maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average
(CGPA) of at least 65% while employed with Consumer Services.


Understanding the Consumer Services department and its various services is an asset

Expected to live in residence throughout their contract period

Due to the nature of their work, this individual is expected to attend residence programming after hours, utilize their meal plan in Marquis and be available for Residence Assistant (RA) training (August 17th-21st, August 24th-28th) and Residence Move In Day (August 31st). Should the Student Life Social Ambassador (SLSA) have violations of Residence rules or fall behind on their financial obligations to residence, they will be expected to meet with the Assistant Manager, Student Life (AMSL) to discuss the concern and possibly face repercussions such as fines or eviction.

Nature and Scope

The position of the SLSA requires an individual who is self-motivated, capable of functioning independently or within a group, is knowledgeable about social media and trends, passionate about creating social media content such as short form videos, Instagram posts, newsletters, etc., and is willing to commit their efforts to the
enhancement of the Consumer Services Department.

Under the supervision of the AMSL and Marketing Specialist, the SLSA is expected to demonstrate a commitment to residence by working to create social media posts, attend programs and take photos to build up the Consumer Services photo bank, create posters, film short form videos, create the monthly newsletters, and work to promote Consumer Services through a fun and creative lens.

The SLSA will work closely with the Assistant Manager and the Marketing Specialist to develop content schedules, expectations, and ensure that the Consumer Services brand is maintained.

The successful candidate will be accountable to the Consumer Services Team Charter and is aligned with the purpose, vision, and values, and holds themselves and each other accountable to it.

Duties

The SLSA is expected to work toward the goal of developing the Consumer Services brand, develop quality social media content, ensure content and newsletters are submitted and distributed to the residence population on time, assist with the creation of posters, and develop quality working relationships with their colleagues and Student
Life staff.


Additional duties:
• Assist with the creation, editing, and proofreading of marketing and
communications materials, including social media content, newsletters, website
updates, and promotional materials.
• Support social media activities, including scheduling posts, monitoring
engagement, and compiling basic analytics.
• Assist with PR and Communications campaigns, promotions, and events.

Conditions

The SLSA is required to work for the duration of the contract period. Additionally, the SLSA must receive approval from their direct supervisor before taking any employment or additional leadership positions on the University of Saskatchewan campus or within the surrounding community during their contract.

The successful applicant must complete a valid Criminal and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Additional Skills

The following skills are not required; however, they will be considered an asset.
• Knowledge of Photoshop/Lightroom or similar program
• Understanding of Canva
• Experience creating content for digital or social media platforms
• Familiarity with content management systems
